Rebrand Yourself…

[minor spoiler warning - everything the trailer would have shown you anyways]

… cause seeing the surprised expressions on familiar faces when they realise it’s you is so so fun! Believe me, i know. Other than the “OMG, that’s you?!” factor, doing so may even bring increased profits; especially if you’re an Ah Long (or loan shark as the common people call them).

Ah Long Pte Ltd Poster
I’m gonna get Fann Wong to sign this!!

Ah Long Pte Ltd CD
With production notes and movie stills. Anyone interested?

Who can resist ‘packaged’ loans with interest rates as low as 10% without any questions asked? Or tear inducing operatic songs about the sad lives of Ah Longs? On top of that, they won’t sue you like banks do and neither will they redecorate your perfectly good house with Jackson Pollock inspired art work. Unless you still refuse to pay your dues after their melodious, non-painful method of persuasion of course.

Jackson Pollock Art
Ah Longs get artistic

And where would you find noble Ah Longs such as these who only want the best for the people? In Ah Long Pte Ltd of course! Another very real (with the exception of *swoosh swoosh* fight scene sound effects :P) and terribly hilarious 2 hour production from the same guy who brought you movies like I Not Stupid and Just Follow Law. Mr. Jack Neo!

Ah Long Wedding
How can this not make you laugh?

Rated 18PL (i would say a little 18SX too XD), this one is filled with Hokkien profanities and violence involving durians. :P There’s even a scene where Fann Wong flashes her tattooed bare back AND butt (okay, so it was a body double) while Mark Lee prances around in his undershorts! Lol..

Durians As Weapons
Don’t you feel his pain?

In short, this movie revolves around a newly crowned female Ah Long boss who is pressured on one side by her father to uphold their cruel money-making traditions, and on the other by her mum to finally get married and produce little Ah Longs. See how she tries to keep the business running without endangering her subordinates, restructuring it into a professional and ‘loving’ organization, while struggling to find that special someone who would fall for a flat-chested, pot smoking Ah Long boss.

Fann Wong
I love Fann Wong even if she’s claims to be flat!!

Do watch the movie and support almost local films (it’s a start right?). After all, Fann Wong had to play a male-ish role once again, get spat on more than 40 times and even submerge herself in ‘cesspool’ full of chocolate sauce, bananas, chendol, caramel, honey and a little urine for taste. Ewww..

Cesspool
Cesspool aka shit hole! (excuse my crudeness)

Daniel Tan
If not for Jack Neo, watch it for him. :P [i know a certain someone is drooling right now]

THE END

p.s. Don’t leave once the credits start, there’s a continuation of the story at the end
p.s.p.s. Even a banana like me found the movie funny. Subtitles FTW!
p.s.p.s.p.s. I was wrong, this show has absolutely everything to do with Ah Longs. Not convinced? Watch the trailer ->

Right. This is a little out of topic, but I just *have* to say it (ever since I saw your photo in Rising Mercury’s blog). You resemble one of my Japanese students ever so much!!!! Ever wonder if you had a doppelganger?? Akira (the student I used to teach) CAN be yours. :D

Or people with durians! Thorny fruits are dangerous things!! Better play it safe and watch it at the theater, Lina. You can’t be going to Japan with holes all over smelling like the king of fruits! :P

Honestly, me being the katak dibawah tempurung that i am, i didn’t know a thing about this movie until now. Neither did i watch the trailer or know what the movie was going to be about. Haha, remember my “I don’t think this is a movie about Ah longs” comment? Uhh, i noticed the ad on the bottles too.

Ah Ong as in Mark Lee? Haha, not gay.. very in-touch with his feminine side only. I quote him “If you put your mother on the floor right now, i can make her pregnant!” HAHAHA! Tagged? Uhh, i’ll see when i can complete it. :)

Japanese! Yes!! *complete with ‘yes’ action* One more to add to my list (with lookalike reference somemore) besides “Korean”, “American Chinese” and “Not-Malaysian”. Hehe, i won’t be able to sleep tonight. And i have a good reason to, right? Cause looking like Akira is a good thing? :D

    BYE!

p.s. Unless you miss it or something, Lina *hint hint* XD
p.s.p.s. Doppelgangers are scary. And awkward to meet. Hehe..

=) jack neo and fann wong! i feel like ive grown up with them on my tv =) yeap… me from good old jay bee so i get channel 5, the singapore channel.. since i never really liked rtm 1,2 etc when i was growing up, ive been watching singapore tv like since the dawn of time!

i think my part kiasu, part chinese-ness, part movie madness came from channel 5 =) no seriously! they show like really nice movies and tv shows… which explains why im a potato (its not really a real term, perhaps my own… brown (malay) on the outside and white (english speaking) on the inside).. i guess in a small way, similar to your ‘banana’ term!

i cant speak malay as fluently as i should from all the watching english language shows, hanging around with non malay friends as i was growing up (NOT because i dont like malays, i just never had the opportunity much? well, i studied in Convent, was always in the first class, and UNFORTUNATELY, and im being truthful and not boastful, just wanna inform you… that most times, i was the only malay girl in Science 1) hence… i kinda grew up being ‘Malaysian’? Sad huh? most people would say its the ‘kacang lupakan kulit’ syndrome…

but i say, that ‘kacang’ (me) didnt lupakan ‘kulit’ (being malay) but merely grew up differently… maybe im a kacang hybrid!

hahaha, i know i know..totally drifted off topic! its just that i was stunned by your ps.ps.ps im a banana statement at the bottom =)
bottomline, will go try watch the movie =) i see them on tv like everyday, seeing them on the big screen might be even better!

ps. i loved kung fu dunk and madly in love with chen Bo-Lin
ps.ps. i also watched CJ7 and love it! (although dunno why people didnt like it much…)

    ok ta!

Uhh, i loved Singapore TV everytime i went down to Johor. They had all kinds of interesting cartoons and movies especially on Saturdays and Sundays which never aired on Malaysian TV (that was before Astro of course).

Haha, and that’s why i would love talking to you one day. I don’t get the chance to speak to that many ‘potatoes’.. Hehe! And super smart anyones in general like you! :D

I did have the opportunity (sort of) but never cared to learn cause i thought (and maybe still do) speaking English was cool. Haha, i even used to call myself English BUT told people i was from America. HAHA!

Uh huh, you do that and i assure you that that movie is super funny! The subtitle people were quite efficient. Haha.. I haven’t watched Kung Fu dunk though and CJ7 wasn’t as funny as i expected it to be. But not bad anyway.

    BYE!

p.s. Being ‘Malaysian’ is good.. :)
