The Day My Butt Sat Still

[Spoiler Warning]

Lazy bum-ness cannot stop me from feeling strongly about this (not that it takes much effort actually). I am absolutely unsatisfied with how The Day the Earth Stood Still ended. I won’t say how but I think it’s safe to tell you that it ended in an unjustifiably happy joy joy way.

Shows about death and destruction (too vague to be a spoiler right?) should never ever end happy. Especially not those where the potential victims are themselves responsible for their own deaths. Imagine a happified version of The Inconvenient Truth. Wouldn’t be very inconvenient, would it?

All those Wall-E critiques who took that KIDS movie too seriously on the basis that themes such as pollution and a dying earth shouldn’t be taken lightly should turn their attentions to this movie. And I roughly quote ->

It is when we civilizations are at the brink (of destruction/desperation) do they change

You could probably tell (I haven’t spoiled it, have I?) that this line in the movie influenced how the movie ended. All I have to say is at least 95% of cases, there isn’t a so called ‘change’. Not a good one at least.

There’s no need for proof, you should probably be aware how people react in sticky situations. What’s that saying about only seeing people’s true colors in times of desperation? There’s even a high probability that you (and I) have reacted in ways which makes people just want to kill you if you were a movie character.

My conclusion is, humans are evil and therefore we should all die. Thank you.

THE END

p.s. I don’t have a proper conclusion do I?
p.s.p.s. By the way, if you HAVE watched the movie, I’m not just talking about the way humans are treating the environment. There are more than a thousand other reasons why it would be better if we went boom.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
If you agree to this quote, you might agree to the statement below.
The world is about to break, but it ain’t broken yet… so, why bother?
